Bid Committee FAQ
Every year, LASCYPAA travels to a new city, and your group can help make it happen! Hosting the Louisiana State Conference of Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous is an incredible opportunity to bring recovery, service, and fellowship to your local community.
Bidding for LASCYPAA is open to any group of AA members in Louisiana who share the desire to serve and carry the message of recovery to young people and the young at heart. We’re here to help every step of the way—from forming a bid committee to creating your Bid Book and presenting at the conference.
If you have at least three AA members with one year of sobriety and a passion for service, you can start a bid! We look for groups that are organized, enthusiastic, and ready to work together to host an unforgettable conference grounded in the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous.
To make a bid, your committee will put together a Bid Book—a short presentation document that shows your city’s readiness to host. It includes:
-
A statement of why your area wants to bring LASCYPAA home.
-
A minimum of three AA members (with one year sober) representing your city.
-
Two potential hotel or venue proposals with available dates.
-
Confirmation that no other large AA events conflict within 30 days of your proposed dates.
-
Letters of support from your local AA service bodies (district, intergroup, or area).
-
A demonstration of your committee’s financial responsibility and autonomy.
-
A clear plan for how any proceeds after expenses will be distributed to AA service entities.
-
Your proposed host committee list and outreach plan.
-
Venue details, program ideas, and accessibility considerations.
-
Preliminary budget and cost breakdowns.
-
A sample weekend program or schedule.
-
Local outreach and publicity plans for the conference.
-
A commitment to follow all LASCYPAA Advisory Council bylaws and AA Traditions.
-
Once your Bid Book is ready, submit a digital copy three weeks before the conference to:
lascypaa.advisory@gmail.comThen bring one printed copy to the conference for the bidding session.During the weekend, your committee will present your bid—often with a fun skit or short presentation that shows your group’s spirit and enthusiasm for service.
Bidding for LASCYPAA isn’t just about hosting a conference—it’s about unity, connection, and giving back to the fellowship that saved our lives. Whether your city wins the bid or not, the process builds friendships, strengthens sobriety, and inspires others to get involved.
